Environment action training for youth

There are two events that might interest Newcastle youth involved in working towards sustainability.

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is running a climate change and sustainability leadership-training day in Newcastle. This free event aims to educate, inspire and empower young people to take action on Climate Change in the Newcastle community. Participants will learn skills from experienced youth climate leaders in the areas of climate science, communications, organising, leadership and teamwork. The training is Saturday 12 March, but RSVPs are due by Saturday 5 March.

Green Steps is bring its training to Newcastle during April/May.The program involves 30 hours of workshops (over two weekends) and an internerships/work placement focusing on environmental issues and responses, environmental auditing, project planning and management, communication for change and behavioural change management. Applications close soon (25 March).
