Asset-Based Community Development Empowers Neighborhoods

Here’s an easy to read introduction to asset-based community development (ABCD)  Asset-Based Community Development Empowers Neighborhoods.

One of the strengths of ABCD is that it helps us to see things around us in a new way. One time I did a bit of an asset map of our local shopping village for the school and it helped me to see the light poles as potential mural spaces. I haven’t acted on it, but with the school’s 150th anniversary coming up, wouldn’t it be great for students to do a series of murals  down the street?

I had passed those light poles hundreds of times, but when I looked at them in a different light, new possibilities emerged.
