Working WITH communities, not for them

This is an interesting video from  Hildy Gottlieb, a cofounder of Creating the Future, which captures some of the major themes of the community engagement  and community capacity building courses I teach. Essentially I believe that communities have many resources that can be mobilised when people are truly engaged, and that programs can be enhanced when the community are actively involved.

As community workers we need to explore how to share power, to engage communities in building their own programs with our role being one of facilitation and helping to fill in gaps.
