The great carbon hoax

(Cartoon from the Canberra Times)

For people who might not know the context of this great cartoon – Jonathan Moylan released a hoax press release earlier this month.

Moylan HoaxFollowing the media release, Whitehaven Coal shares plunged 6 per cent to $3.31, wiping over $300 million off the company’s value before trading was stopped. Moylan’s action has created wide-ranging debate. Some people label him a hero and others consider him a criminal (and he does face significant criminal charges). Bob Brown sees it as part of a long tradition on nonviolent direct action. The Sydney Morning Herald discussed implications for future hoaxes and implications for the market.

The above cartoon pretty much sums up my attitude. The real issue is the damage we are doing to the earth and we need to take dramatic action to raise awareness.
