Song for Sunday – Happy

I haven’t done a song for Sunday for a while, but as it was Alexa’s birthday this week, I thought it was time to return to it. This week’s song is “Happy” by Pharrell Williams because whenever I hear (and it’s pretty hard to avoid) I think of Alexa.

It’s partly because she is a happy girl, but it’s mainly because she did a great version of Happy on the clarinet for a music competition at her school last year. She didn’t have long to prepare it and there was one section in the middle she was struggling to learn in time. So instead of playing a semi-prepared section, she decided to put down her clarinet and do a cute little dance instead. It turned it into a really entertaining number and worked so well.

So Happy Birthday to my wonderful daughter – this song is for you.
